State: MinnesotaThe University of Minnesota Libraries seek two enthusiastic,innovative, service-oriented professionals who have both subjectknowledge in the sciences/engineering and digital expertise to join astaff of seven librarians in the Science & Engineering Library(http://sciweb.lib.umn.edu). The library supports the research,knowledge management, instructional and life-long learning needs ofundergraduate and graduate students, faculty and staff in thephysical sciences (astronomy, chemistry, geology, physics), historyof science & technology, and engineering (computing, aerospace,biomedical, chemical, civil, electrical, mechanical).The successful candidates will work with library colleagues toprovide a full range of services, with an emphasis on forging newrelationships with designated departments and creating newinitiatives that respond to trends in scientific research in thosedepartments. Areas of focus will include exploring with faculty newmodels of scholarly communication; collaborating with faculty andlibrary colleagues, including the Digital Library Development Lab, tocreate innovative tools for managing the interdisciplinary researchprocess; developing and managing collections; providing referenceservices; and developing curriculum-integrated information literacyprograms. The successful candidates will also contribute to theprofession as they work toward continuous appointment. The positionsreports to the Director of Academic Programs for the PhysicalSciences and Engineering.Qualifications include a Master’s degree from an American LibraryAssociation accredited library school or equivalent combination ofadvanced degree and relevant experience, facility with technology andits application in academic contexts, and demonstrated knowledge ofscience/engineering research and publication trends. …
