More than 10,000 undergraduate andgraduate students at the university receive an education characterized byinterdisciplinary collaboration and innovation.Carnegie Mellon University Libraries seek an enthusiastic and innovativeHumanities Librarian to serve as liaison to the Departments of English andPhilosophy and to interdisciplinary programs in minority and gender studies.Liaison librarians at Carnegie Mellon are responsible for collections,specialized reference services, instruction and outreach to faculty andstudents in their assigned subject areas. The Humanities Librarian is alsocharged with developing the information literacy component of Interpretation& Argument, a general education course required for most Carnegie Mellonundergraduates, working closely with other instructional programs forfreshmen. This position also coordinates library outreach to newinternational students at Carnegie Mellon.As a member of the Hunt Reference team, the Humanities Librarian providesreference services in the humanities, social sciences and business, withrotating desk and digital reference duties, including some evening andweekend times. Participates in continuing efforts to apply new technologiesand service models to reference and instruction.This position is part of the Librarian/Archivist track of the universityfaculty.
