Middle/upper school librarian

State: InternationalUpper School Librarian NeededGlenelg School of Abu Dhabi, United Arab EmiratesGlenelg School of Abu Dhabi seeks to fill the full-time position of combined (6-8) Middle and Upper School (9-12) Librarian. Under the supervision of the Head Librarian, the Upper School Librarian will be responsible for daily running of one of two campus libraries.The GSAD Library is located in a newly built state of the art facility with a 6-12 integrated library program. The libraries will house over 2,000 volumes to start with an expected volume number to reach 15,000 within the next five years. All candidates must have a Masters in Library Science, preferable from an ALA accredited institution, and prior experience working with teens in a school library setting as well as in an international environment is helpful.The ideal candidate must have strong on-line searching skills, a background in library/information skill instruction and the ability to integrate it into the curriculum, experience with reference, cataloging, collection development and information literacy and technology. This is a start up library program requiring motivation, energy and an innovative spirit. The vision of The Glenelg School of Abu Dhabi is to create and conduct a challenging and vigorous secondary (Years 7–12) academic curriculum and program for Emirati and other highly qualified pupils based on the successful model of International Independent Schools of the highest academic standing. Two state-of-the-art buildings have been constructed, one for girls and the other for boys designed for an initial maximum of 400 pupils each. In September 2008, the school admitted its first pupils, and anticipates growing to a final number of 800 by 2011.An outstanding package commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered to successful applicants. …
